Adam Laloum

Adam Laloum (Toulouse, February 25, 1987) is a French pianist.

Laloum was born in 1987 in Toulouse. His parents were music lovers and classical music was part of his upbringing. He wanted to take piano lessons, but his older brother was already taking piano lessons and preferred that Adam play a different instrument. Adam tried the flute and violin but did not enjoy them. He asked his parents for a piano teacher and eventually began taking piano lessons at the age of 10. He continued his studies at the Toulouse conservatory, in the class of Daniel Beau. In 2002 he was admitted to Michel Béroff's class at the Paris conservatory. After graduating in 2006, he continued his studies at the Lyon conservatory with Géry Moutier. He then moved to Hamburg to study with Jevgeni Koroljov, the winner of the Clara Haskil competition in 1977.

In 2009 he won the Clara-Haskil competition in Vevey. This brought him international recognition. He is a prize winner of the Fondation de France (2006) and he received a scholarship from the Fondation Groupe Banque Populaire (2007-2010). In October 2011 he won second prize at the Kissinger Klavierolymp International Piano Competition. In 2012 he was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique. In 2017 he won the Victoires de la Musique in the solo instrumental category.

In 2012 he formed the trio Les Esprits with Victor Julien-Laferrière and Mi-sa Yang.
