Frank Peter Zimmermann

Frank Peter Zimmermann (Duisburg, 27 February 1965) is a German violinist.
Zimmermann began playing violin when he was five years old, and gave his first concert at the age of ten.
After completing his studies with Valery Gradov, Saschko Gawriloff and Herman Krebbers in 1983, Frank Zimmermann has performed with most of the world's major symphony orchestras and conductors, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Paavo Berglund, the National Symphony Orchestra Washington and Leonard Slatkin, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Manfred Honeck, the Berliner Philharmoniker and Bernard Haitink, the Philharmonia Orchestra and Wolfgang Sawallisch, and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and Mariss Jansons.
In February 2003, Zimmermann and the Berliner Philharmoniker under the direction of Peter Eötvös performed the premiere of the violin concerto 'en sourdine' by German composer Matthias Pintscher.
Besides performing with orchestra, Zimmermann also plays much chamber music and gives recitals. Since 1998 he has found a steady partner in Italian pianist Enrico Pace. Other chamber music partners include Heinrich Schiff, Piotr Anderszewski and Christian Zacharias. With his recording of the Brahms double concerto with Schiff he won the Deutsche Schallplattenpreis.
For EMI Classics, Zimmermann recorded all the major violin concertos, as well as many works for violin and piano, and solo violin music.
