King's Singers
The King's Singers is an English a capella vocal group, which was founded in 1968 by members of the King's College Choir in Cambridge. The repertoire ranges from the Middle Ages via Renaissance music, Bach and Burt Bacharach to pop music. Often their own arrangements are performed.
The King's Singers is one of the world's most popular vocal groups. Most performances take place in the US and Europe. Their style is characterized by academically trained performance, with a harmonic blend and balance of the different voices, pure tone production, perfectly executed rhythms and often humorous texts. Over the years, 21 people have been part of the ensemble. Although they sing only a capella during concerts, some recordings feature accompaniment, for example a single guitar or a lute, sometimes a larger instrumental ensemble such as on Out of the Blue (1974). Keep on Changing from 1975 is a pop album with vocal arrangements of various contemporary hits from that period.
