Vlaams Radiokoor

The Vlaams Radiokoor is a Belgian choir based in Brussels, affiliated with the Flemish public broadcasting company VRT. The choir was founded as a professional chamber choir in 1937 by the then-current NIR. The choir has been independent since 1998. Since the 2019-2020 season, Bart Van Reyn has led the Radiokoor as music director.

The 32 singers rehearse in Studio 1 of the Flagey building in Brussels. The heart of the Vlaams Radiokoor's repertoire consists of a cappella productions under the label Vocal Fabric, with which the choir tours throughout the season. In addition, the choir regularly collaborates with ensembles such as Brussels Philharmonic, I Solisti del Vento, the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest, Les Siècles, Le Concert Spirituel, the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest. Guest conductors who have worked with the choir include Eric Whitacre, Stephen Layton, Marcus Creed, Barbara Hannigan, Tonu Kaljuste, Klaas Stok, Martina Batič, Kaspar Putnins, Bo Holten, Laszlo Heltay and Paul Hillier.

The Vlaams Radiokoor performs at locations throughout Flanders, such as Antwerp (AMUZ), Bruges (Concertgebouw Brugge and Hospitaalmuseum OLV-ter-Potterie), Leuven (30CC), Hasselt (Cultuurcentrum Hasselt), Brussels (Flagey and Gemeenschapscentrum De Maalbeek), Mol (Cultuurcentrum 't Getouw) and Sint-Niklaas (Cultuurcentrum Sint-Niklaas) and Lier (SAMWD Lier and Edward Bressinck) and Ghent (Sint-Niklaaskerk).
