Vox Luminis

Vox Luminis is a Belgian vocal ensemble that focuses primarily on vocal music from Italy, England and Germany from the 17th and 18th centuries. Vox Luminis has a varying line-up, usually consisting of soloists, a continuo and an instrumental section.

Vox Luminis was founded in 2004 on the initiative of French flautist and trumpeter Lionel Meunier. The first performance was a concert at the music academy IMEP (Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie) in Namen. Since then it has existed in variable line-ups (continuo group and other instrumentalists), with the core consisting of 8 to 13 vocalists and 2 continuo musicians, most of whom originally come from the Royal Music Conservatory of Den Haag. In 2009, the ensemble established itself in Namen. The composition of singers is characterised mainly by a coherence of voice colours, although there is also room for the individual quality and personality of the singers.

Vox Luminis frequently performs at festivals throughout Europe, such as the Festival van Ambronay, the Rencontres Musicales van Vézelay, the Festival Saint-Michel en Thiérache, Juillet Musical in Saint-Hubert, Festival van Vlaanderen, Festival de Wallonie, Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht, Musica Antiqua in Brugge, Festival van Saintes, Cultureel Centrum van Belem in Portugal, Musikfest in Bremen and Stuttgart, Bach Festival in Combrailles, Bach Academie van Arques-la-Bataille.
