4 exceptional artistic talents win a
Belgian Piano Award from the World Piano Day Awards
Yaroslav Maksymets (Brussels), Nand Selleslagh (Antwerpen), Andreas Van Overbeke, and Eva Alekseeva are the remarkable winners of the first World Piano Day Awards in Belgium.
Yaroslav Maksymets (17 years, Brussels), Nand Selleslagh (15 years, Antwerpen), Andreas Van Overbeke (12 years, De Pinte) and Eva Alekseeva (10 years, Evergem) win a Belgian Piano Award from the Piano World Day Awards, which were organised for the first time this year.
More than 50 candidates from Belgium participated in this piano competition. The level of the participating musicians proved to be very high and ultimately 12 musicians were selected for the final.
World Piano Day is an organisation that wants to stimulate, encourage and support children and young people in their musical development. By offering them a platform, we especially want them to gain a lot of experience. We strive every time anew to enable them to showcase and share their musical talents with the people around them.
The 4 winners will perform the opening programme of the World Piano Day Concert on Wednesday 29 March 2023 at 19:30, Amuz Antwerpen. Composer and pianist Johan Famaey colours this edition with a cinematically inspired programme in which the piano is central.
The leading roles are performed by conductor Dirk Brossé, the symphony orchestra Prima La Musica, solo violinist Marina Martin Maldonado and the National Children's Choir.
The programme features music by Dirk Brossé and Johan Famaey with the theme 'Our Planet'. It is the intention of both composers to tell their vision through music about 'our Nature' (Dirk Brossé) and the 'Universe' (Johan Famaey) and to bring people together on this subject. They also want to join forces in promoting innovation through culture.
