From October 12 to 14, 2018, the first Brussels Cello Festival will present top cellists from Belgium and around the world in solo recitals, concerts, masterclasses and chamber music ensembles.
Among the invited artists are soloists with international acclaim such as Gary Hoffman, Marie Hallynck, David Cohen, Alexander Buzlov, Roel Dieltiens, Anne Gastinel, Paul Katz, Jakob Koranyi, Pieter Wispelwey and Han Bin Yoon. The Royal Conservatory of Brussels and the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-ter-Zavelkerk are the venues.
The various Belgian conservatories (Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, etc.) and their cello departments will participate in the masterclasses and the closing concert. The first edition concludes with a massive cello sound never before heard in Belgium. The organizers hope to see you at this exciting weekend of unforgettable music.
Belgium Cello Society vzw
The 'Belgium Cello Society VZW' is a new initiative created by cellist and Artistic Director Han Bin Yoon to organize, promote and encourage cello playing in Belgium. Last year, at the renowned Queen Elisabeth Competition, the cello competition was presented for the first time in its long history, immediately propelling the cello to the forefront of Belgian public consciousness. With the rapidly growing popularity of and interest in the cello, the Belgium Cello Society fills a gap in the Belgian music scene and raises the voice of the cello to renewed prominence.
