Last Thursday, the nominations for the prestigious International Film Music Critics Awards (IFMCA) were announced in America. Dirk Brossé is nominated in the category 'Best Original Score for a Documentary'.
The annual International Film Music Critics Awards (http://filmmusiccritics.org), which are in their 19th edition this year, are the only awards given by film music journalists to composers. They pride themselves on honouring the best film music, not only from major Hollywood productions, but also from smaller productions worldwide. You could call it the Oscars for film music. For Dirk Brossé, this is the very first time he has been nominated for an IFMCA Award. The fact that he appears on the same nominations list as the renowned Hans Zimmer with Frozen Planet II is big news indeed. With productions in the other categories such as Avatar, the way of water, Lord of the Rings: the Rings of power, The Batman and Fantastic Beasts: the Secrets of Dumbledore, Onze Natuur is also in great company there.
On Thursday, February 23rd, the winners will be announced via the IFMCA's YouTube channel.
