From 2 to 4 September, the chamber music festival Kâsteaux combines history, gastronomy and music to offer its distinctive total experience at Plantentuin Meise. Artistic Director Marc Sabbah, soloist of the Nationaal Orkest van België, has once again invited world-class musicians including Brannon Cho, prize winner of the prestigious Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd for cello. Principal cellist of the London Symphony Orchestra David Cohen, Belgian pianist Eliane Reyes, violist of the Koningin Elisabeth Muziekkapel Kerson Leong and violinists Lisa Jacobs and Yuri Zhislin will also be heard at this special edition of Kâsteaux.
The festival opens on Friday 2 September with a walking dinner and evening concert in the Wapenzaal of the historic Kasteel van Bouchout in Plantentuin Meise. On Saturday and Sunday there are 2 concerts per day with a break in between that allows the public to enjoy artisanal delicacies prepared with local ingredients. Trios, quartets, quintets and sextets by the great Romantics such as Brahms, Mendelssohn, Dvorak and Fauré make it a festival not to be missed. Kâsteaux has already been described by Cultuurpakt as a festival for the inquisitive connoisseur, the healthy curious enjoyer.
