In 2023, the MA Festival organizes a new edition of the MA Competition! During the 60th edition of MA Festival, it is once again the turn of young harpsichord players from around the world to showcase their best.
The MA Competition - which started in 1964 - has developed into an unparalleled talent pool as a prestigious international music competition. Every year, talented young musicians from all over the world get the chance to enter into dialogue with professional musicians in the field of early music and thus perfect their artistic performances. MA Competition accelerated the international career of many renowned musicians, including Christophe Rousset (°1961), Kristian Bezuidenhout (°1979), Dmitry Sinkovsky (°1980), Jean Rondeau (°1991) and Justin Taylor (°1992).
On Friday 19, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 May, the first round of MA Competition 2023 took place. For three days, 69 harpsichord players from 25 countries showcased their best. The participants are presented to the world via an online streaming platform. Under the leadership of chair Korneel Bernolet, jury members Carole Cerasi, Bertrand Cuiller, Christophe Rousset and Catalina Vicens selected 12 candidates to advance to the next round.
