Between 14 September and 2 October 2022 enjoy the 10th edition of Musica Divina with heavenly music in the heart of the Kempen. The Festival van Vlaanderen Kempen organises concerts in abbeys, beguinages and churches at the start of the new cultural season. Under the festival motto 'A joyful heart... promotes healing' Musica Divina brings heavenly and healing music to the Kempen this year.
The motto of Musica Divina is taken from Proverbs 17, 22 in 2022. A festival theme that is reflected through heavenly and healing music in the inspiring religious heritage of the Kempen. With a programme that connects east, west, north and south with each other. In true joy there are no boundaries. A joyful heart is a hospitable heart.
During Musica Divina, pilgrimage songs, hymns to all mothers, motets by André Campra and slow silences will resound. As well as angelic singing, music for theremin, North Indian dhrupad singing and throat singing from the steppes of Central Asia. A colourful bouquet that hopefully brings even more joy to the heart.
Director Jelle Dierickx: "In 2022, two partners are also celebrated: Cultuurhuis de Warande in Turnhout blows out fifty candles and the IOK, Intercommunale van de Ontwikkeling van de Kempen and long-standing structural partner of Musica Divina, celebrates its sixtieth anniversary."
Musica Divina creates a unique interplay between heritage and music at each edition. On the programme are, among others, Sollazzo Ensmble at Averbode Abbey, Vlaams Radiokoor in Geel, Carolina Eyck & BRYGGEN in Herentals, Ensemble Polyharmonique at Tongerlo Abbey, Luise Enzian and Tehila Nini Goldstein in Mol, The King's Singers and a nocte temporis in Turnhout, Ghalia Benali and Romina Lischka in Heist-op-den-Berg and Huun-Huur-Tu in Hoogstraten.
Musica Divina is a total experience. Each concert includes an introduction by Klara presenter Katelijne Boon. After each concert, the listener can enjoy a free reception in collaboration with local authorities and partners. Musica Divina upholds Kempen hospitality high in its banner.
In addition to top concerts with heavenly and healing music, a reflection and feeling moment about music therapy is on the programme, with special guests psychotherapist Dr. Binu Singh, composer Ester Venrooy, silence specialist Virginie Platteau and music journalist Andrea Voets.
