Even after her career behind the microphone, Chantal De Waele remains a radio person at heart and a passionate advocate of the radio medium, which comes closer to people than any other medium.

In what way and to what extent does the radio bring the concert hall into your living room, your car, your headphones …? Chantal De Waele uses statistical material and historical sources, but also colorful stories from her own radio life and that of colleagues. She lets a number of composers (André Laporte, Wim Henderickx, Hanne Deneire) speak about the special, sometimes bizarre relationship between new music and public broadcasting.

Chantal De Waele
Chantal De Waele (°1957) can be described in two words as a woman of words and music. She studied classical philology and worked for public broadcasting. She was off-screen voice at Canvas and presenter at the Concertgebouw of Radio 1 and later at Klara, where she made series about, among others, J. Ph. Rameau, Erik Satie and Winterreise by Schubert.
In Playtime she asked musicians to spill the beans about their love for their instrument.
