The three parts of this triptych can be described as follows: the left panel - Misery - depicts the vale of tears; Transitio on the right panel depicts a transformation in everyday life, while Transfiguratio, the central panel, depicts the brilliant colors of transcendent bliss.
Jean-Paul Estiévenart is a Belgian jazz trumpeter whose career to date has been surprisingly close and diverse. His playing is fed equally by his passion for the traditions and history of the genre as by modern experiments and free improvisation. His meeting with the eminent oboeist Marcel Ponseele resulted in no clash of contexts, as they both experience music and talk about it in the same way. They have chosen a selection of works - mainly by Bach - in which they both respond to each other, modifying the music as necessary to leave room for improvisation.
