In the Baroque period, it was certainly not uncommon to play dance music on the organ. In the palaces of European aristocracy, many small organs stood, which, with their range of sounds, were considered miniature orchestras and provided entertainment for their owners. This recording offers a fascinating panorama with works by Lully, Vivaldi, Scheidt, Martín y Coll, Sweelinck and many others, which unmistakably have a danceable character. Christian Tarabbia plays a monumental instrument by Venetian organ builder Gaetano Callido in the small municipality of Candide di Cadore in the north of Veneto.
