The album Adriano 6 by the excellent Dutch vocal ensemble Dionysos Now! is a resounding tribute to Adriaen Willaert (1490-1562). Central to this recording is the Missa Laudate Deum. This remarkable mass from the Liber quinque missarum of 1536 demonstrates Willaert's masterful command of polyphony and shows his refined continuation of the Parisian school. In addition to the mass, the CD also contains a selection of Willaert's madrigals and motets, which testify to his particular ability to combine expressive texts with ingenious music.
