Arias - Scenes - Ensembles

Nearly no event of the Mozartweek is as memorable for visitors as the production "Ombra felice" from 1994. Mozart's abundance of creativity in the field of opera is evident not only from fragments of theatrical works such as "Zaide" K. 344, "L'oca del Cairo" K. 422 or "Lo sposo deluso" K. 430, but also from the more than seventy arias and ensembles that he composed as individual works. Some of these are abandoned or never completed designs, because Mozart's singers (or sometimes he himself) were not entirely satisfied with them, while others were contributions to other people's opera productions, which in those times were performed in the form of pasticcios in many places. The broad compilation of this album thus provides a good overview of Mozart's aria oeuvre.
