Bach Restored

Harpsichordist Pieter Dirksen has searched for clues in the two concerti for three harpsichords by Johann Sebastian Bach and two other harpsichord concertos and a partita for lute. In the booklet accompanying the recording with Ensemble Combattimento, he explains why the concerti for three harpsichords BWV 1063 & 1064, which exist only in copies but not in the original, could very well have been written for violins. He also finds arguments in favor of his violin arrangements of the harpsichord concerto BWV 1056 (which exists in the original) and the lute partita BWV 997. He performs the Concerto BWV 1059 only himself on harpsichord - in his own arrangement.
