Bassoon and Continuo

A rare instrumentation, a fascinating sound: sonatas for two oboes, bassoon and basso continuo are barely to be found in the repertoire. Yet this combination brings together three wind instruments whose timbral colors complement each other in an exceptionally attractive way during their interplay. Ramon Ortega Quero and Angel Luis Sanchez Moreno (oboe) have now recorded a collection of masterful sonatas by Jan Dismas Zelenka for this instrumentation together with Marc Trenel (bassoon), as well as Wies de Boeve (bass) and Alfonso Sebastian Alegre (harpsichord) at GENUIN: exceptionally demanding and virtuosic works full of surprises from this long-forgotten composer of the Baroque period! The five top musicians, who have all been awarded international prizes, bring this pinnacle of European contrapuntal art back to life in a captivating manner.
