Beethoven: String Quartets Vol 2

The Alcan String Quartet continues the 25th anniversary celebration of its 1989 formation with Vol. 2 of its landmark three-volume recording of the complete cycle of Beethoven’s 16 string quartets for ATMA Classique. Beethoven’s middle period quartets comprise op. 59/1-3 (Razumovsky), op. 74 (Harp) and op. 95 (Serioso). The Alcan Quartet - Laura Andriani, violin I; Nathalie Camus, violin II; Luc Beauchemin, viola; David Ellis, cello - is active in Canada and internationally. The quartet’s originality, contagious enthusiasm, unique sonority, and remarkable cohesion have all contributed to its continued success. The ensemble possesses the qualities that characterize the best ensembles of its kind: recognizable personality, homogeneous sound and an elegant style.
