There are 'Kreutzer Sonatas' for violin and piano (Beethoven), as a novella (by Tolstoy) and as string quartet (by Janácek), to name just three. Here we have a new arrangement of Beethoven's opus by Richard Tognetti, violinist, composer and Artistic Director of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, for solo violin and strings. Soren Nils Eichberg's 'Endorphin', a MCO commission, is dedicated to Kolja Blacher who takes on the roles of solo violin, first violin in the quartet, and conductor, Eichberg is currently composer in residence at the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra but lives and works in Berlin.
