This somewhat enigmatic Berceuse sur le nom de Fauré dates from 1922. It was written in honor of Ravel's teacher, Gabriel Fauré, and the theme is derived from the letters of his name. Alexandre Tharaud has recorded his own transcription of the piece, which was originally written for violin and piano.
