The violin Concertos of Mendelssohn and Bruch have long been popular cornerstones of the Romantic Era repertoire, and have never been out of the public's ear, regardless of changing musical tastes. Composed 23 years apart, they represent two vastly different approaches to the expressive possibilities of the violin as a solo instrument.
