The music of Latin Grammy-winning composer Roberto Sierra is performed worldwide. The music has long been admired for its fusion of Caribbean elements with an inventive modernalistic language. The works on this album span a decade of compositions and explore crucial themes - the idea of time in music, creative new applications of sonata form in terms of mood, tempo and character, and the evocation of images seen from a Latin American perspective. The chamber music ensemble Continuum was founded in 1966 and specializes in contemporary classical music. It is led by pianist Cheryl Seltzer and conductor Joel Sachs. Continuum and Sierra have been friends for 40 years, the composer has dedicated numerous compositions to the ensemble and they have celebrated several world premieres together with him.
