Remi Geniet, Fabrizio Meloni, Kyiv Virtuosi
Alexey Shor was born in Ukraine, but now lives in New York, where he pursues a career of prestigious performances and recordings in collaboration with leading international musicians. "Childhood Memories" sketches a path from early childhood to adolescence in a nostalgic reflection on youth, while "Verdiana" is a musical tribute to Giuseppe Verdi, reworking his famous melodies into Latin American dance styles such as samba, bossa nova and tango. Both works are characterized by Shor's trademark of melodic clarity and emotional depth. This is the third part in the "Composer's Notebook" series by Alexey Shor. Pianist Remi Geniet, winner of numerous international competitions, notably the second prize at the 2013 Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition at the age of twenty and the youngest prize winner of the Bonn International Beethoven Competition, is establishing himself as one of the most prominent pianists of his generation. The internationally acclaimed clarinetist Fabrizio Meloni is principal clarinet and soloist with the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala and the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala.
