"The perfect casting" wrote Opera Magazine about Jakub Józef Orlinski's interpretation of Orfeo in San Francisco. The Polish countertenor is perfectly suited for the role of the mythical singer. Orfeo quickly grew into one of his favorite roles, which Jakub Józef Orlinski has performed in various productions around the world. Now the countertenor himself is releasing a recording of Gluck's Orfeo & Euridice - as producer, casting director, artistic co-conductor (alongside conductor Stefan Plewniak) and of course performer of the leading role.
"One of my great dreams as a student was to sing the role of Orfeo," admits Jakub Józef Orlinski, "when I first read the myth, my imagination ran wild, I saw images like those of Jeroen Bosch before my eyes." Performances in productions by others strengthened the singer's desire to realize his own vision of the myth: "It is not easy to take on such a famous musical piece. But I had a clear vision of what I wanted to do with it and how I would realize it".
For his dream cast, Jakub Józef Orlinski recruited the young sopranos Elsa Dreisig as Euridice and Fatma Said as Amore, both winners of the OPUS KLASSIK. They are accompanied by the original ensemble Il Giardino d'Amore under the direction of Stefan Plewniak. The conductor has been Jakub Józef Orlinski's "partner in crime" for many years.
