After releasing the complete set of Ennio Morricone's Cinema Suites for violin and orchestra on two albums ( Cinema Suites , A495 and Cinema Rarities , A554), Marco Serino now presents world premiere recordings of the Maestro's own arrangements for violin and piano. Marco is accompanied by pianist Leandro Piccioni, who, like Marco, brings more than twenty years of experience in close collaboration with Morricone in his favorite orchestra, Roma Sinfonietta. These original arrangements, all from celebrated soundtracks, form the starting point for an original selection in which the two musicians explore the broader repertoire connected to cinema. Cinema Memories ranges from works that have become classics, such as John Williams's Three Pieces from Schindler's List to Bernstein's West Side Story Suite , one of the outright masterpieces of musicals on film, and Myroslav Skoryk's Melody in A Minor , a gem of a piece that has since become a kind of folk song for the Ukrainian people. It is a program in which memory and imagination, melancholy and light, dreams and reality are interwoven, making every listening experience truly multifaceted.
