Margarita Höhenrieder first heard Finnish pianist Antti Siirala in Vienna in 1997, when she was a jury member at the International Beethoven Competition. Many years later, Antti became a piano teacher at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts – a fortunate coincidence that gave them the opportunity to make music together. Already during their first performance, they felt a special musical connection: a similar tonal ideal and a very conscious way of listening to each other. Going together on an artistic journey – for example in search of a convincing Mozart sound – is a very creative process and undoubtedly an inexhaustible source of inspiration. The South American sounds and rhythms of the bandoneon and the typically melancholic melodies of the tango "Cristian en el Cafe Tortoni Buenos Aires" by Françoise Choveaux formed a charming contrast with our Mozart interpretation. Through the composer, Margarita Höhenrieder also met the magnificent bandoneonist on this recording, Sebastien Innocenti. The tango "Cristian en el Tortoni Buenos Aires" is dedicated to Margarita Höhenrieder. On the album cover is the painting "Ast", from 2022, by her friend, painter Bernd Zimmer, with whom she collaborates on creative performances.
