Das Wohltemperierte Klavier

Aaron Pilsan completes his recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's Wohltemperierte Klavier, five years after the publication of the first part, which was praised by critics for its passionate, precise and lively interpretation. The two parts were written twenty years apart, and although the first part is better known, "the second book is more playful, but also more complete. It goes further compositionally and also shows unusual harmonic turns with original and often very unusual chords. The best example of the difference between the two books is the fugue in D flat minor from the second book, a piece whose daring and harmonic originality continue to amaze me," says the Austrian pianist, who once again shows his fascination for Johann Sebastian Bach: "What I find most beautiful about Bach's music is that he expresses everything that makes up our lives, but in perfect order."
