Le Retour des Dieux sur la Terre and Le Caprice d'Erato are part of the tradition of occasional music that Louis XIV bequeathed and which served to illustrate great events at court: they were composed four years apart, the first for the wedding of Louis XV and Marie Leszczynska in 1725 and the second for the birth of their first son in 1729. these divertissements are true little concertante operas in which magnificent grand narratives, triumphal overtures, surprising dances, solemn choruses and grandiose finales succeed one another. Alexis Kossenko lets us enjoy the pleasures of these musical evenings, which gradually conquered all the salons of the 18th century and where everything seems to invite celebration!
