Mozart composed the oratorio "Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebots" when he was just 10 years old in 1767, upon his return to Salzburg after a fabulous journey through Europe with his father Leopold and his sister. The rich and varied orchestration shows Mozart's early talent for enriching the musical narrative with instruments and emphasizing the emotions of the drama. The libretto describes a halfhearted Christian who, thanks to divine grace and justice, is led back to the path of virtue by the spirit of Christianity, despite the temptations of the spirit of the world. Camille Delaforge and Il Caravaggio gracefully emphasize the harmonic skills of this most famous of all musicians.
