Discover Jean Roger-Ducasse

Jean Roger-Ducasse studied in the composition class of Gabriel Faure alongside Maurice Ravel. In 1902 he won second place in the Grand Prix de Rome, while Ravel, as is well known, won only the fourth prize (Ayme Kunc won with his cantata "Alcyone"). Roger-Ducasse's style is not really impressionistic, but rather draws back on Frederic Chopin and resembles that of Faure. The renowned British pianist Martin Jones recorded the complete piano works of Jean Roger-Ducasse in 2015. The album brings together the most important and significant works and offers an extensive introduction to the oeuvre of this now almost forgotten French master.
