In the second half of the 18th century, Domenico Ferrari (1722-1780) was no stranger to fame. He was courted as a highly talented violin virtuoso and galant composer. As one of Giuseppe Tartini's finest students, he quickly made a name for himself at the Viennese and Württemberg courts in Stuttgart. After his debut in 1754 at the prestigious Concert Spirituel in Paris, he received royal privilege to publish his works in France, where he remained until his death. His op. 3 with 6 sonatas for violin and basso continuo on this CD was composed around 1760 and fascinates with a virtuosic language of late baroque and classical music. Artem Dzeganovskyi plays baroque violin, Leonardo Gatti baroque cello and Sonia Hrechorowicz is the harpsichordist.
