Douze Pieces pour grand Orgue

Sensitive and virtuosic The organist of Würzburg Cathedral, Stefan Schmidt, studied with Daniel Roth and proves himself in this previously unreleased recording from 2002 to be an extremely sensitive yet technically virtuosic interpreter of the famous Douze Pièces by César Franck. The organ at St. Peter in Düsseldorf, which was built in 2001 by the firm Göckel, where he worked as an organist for several years, was designed without compromise according to the French symphonic model and is therefore eminently suited for this repertoire as one of the few such instruments on the right bank of the Rhine.
