Film Music Edition

This 7-cd box collects the recordings of film music by Shostakovich that previously appeared as separate releases. Film music accompanied Shostakovich throughout his entire life: from the early silent films of the 1920s to King Lear from 1970. It is a fascinating journey through half a century of Russian film music and an important contribution to the complete picture of the still mysterious Dmitri Shostakovich.
