Fathers, gods, philosophers, emperors, wizards… The bass voice is often employed on opera stages to express nobility and authority. Although this voice frequently forms the foundation and centerpiece of a work, and its depth, power and gentleness have been regularly emphasized since the Baroque period, basses usually do not take center stage. In this recital specially assembled for Nahuel Di Pierro, the bass voice, accompanied by Ensemble Diderot, takes the leading role. During a journey through 100 years of opera history, the program showcases the versatility and brilliance of compositions for this voice. With an impressive range of two and a half octaves, Nahuel di Pierro performs with extraordinary sensitivity and control great arias, from the death of Seneca to the aria of Polyphemus from Aci, Galatea e Polifemo by Händel. And as you can expect from Johannes Pramsohler and his Ensemble Diderot, the program also contains some surprising new discoveries.
