'Music is like wine' - An essay by Michele Carretta 'Music is the wine that fills the chalice of silence': with these words I opened a short essay about my friendship with Gerardo Felisatti, included in a publication from 2013 to celebrate the first 65 years of Carretta Wines. Since then, a decade has passed and our family business has reached the milestone of 75 years. This extensive history, marked by passion, growth, interactions and personal connections more than professional ones, also encompasses the story of my collaboration with Gerardo, which has endured through time. It is a relationship based on our shared love for music and wine, which serves as a backdrop for a quest for 'something' that transcends clichés. I believe that this approach connects an artist like Gerardo Felisatti with many of the people I encounter daily in my profession as a wine merchant. The winemaker who creates the best wine in Italy in an old picturesque village, with meticulous attention to the slightest climatological shifts. These are just a few of the stories that a glass of wine can tell, which enrich my conversations with Gerardo, supplemented by his previews of the pieces recently composed, in a period that is so unique and profound for all mankind. Living in the present moment, renouncing the desire to be what we are not, rediscovering the value of human relationships. This is essentially the essence of my bond with Gerardo and what we want to convey, each in our own field, through this collaboration that has lasted more than ten years and has yielded excellent artistic results. Throughout all these years, Gerardo's music, so pure and engaging, has been a source of inspiration for me. Wine is indeed a prestigious product and a company like Carretta Wines, which has been distributing the best Italian and European wines worldwide for 75 years, cannot ignore the logic and trends of the market. That is why my contribution to this new collection of pieces by Gerardo Felisatti, with the extraordinary participation of Luigi Puxeddu, goes beyond that of a traditional 'sponsor' seeking visibility for his products, but rather that of a friend who enthusiastically, curiously and admiringly joins a new journey to explore together, through the boundless landscapes of music.
