Isaotta Blanzesman and other Loves

This album contains "Romanze", songs, mélodies and lieder written by Maude Valérie White on texts by authors such as Gabriele D'Annunzio, Heinrich Heine, Victor Hugo, Lord Byron and also by the composer herself, performed by mezzo-soprano Elisabetta Paglia and pianist Christopher Howell. White was born in 1855 in Dieppe (Normandy) and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. During her heyday, until 1914, she earned more than sufficient income from the success of her compositions. She travelled extensively, partly out of cultural curiosity, but also for health reasons, which increasingly forced her to choose places with a favourable climate.
