Kantate "Ino"

Lively music from an older composer The Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and soprano Christina Landshamer present a Telemann monograph consisting of the cantata Ino and instrumental works from the same period. Despite – or perhaps because of – Telemann's use of only one singer, Ino is highly dramatic and shows a desperate woman trying to save herself and her son from her husband, who has gone mad, and who ultimately throws herself off a cliff and subsequently transforms into a goddess. Telemann composed it two years before his death and the score is exceptionally rich and colorful. The cantata is combined with his Ouverture in D major, the Divertimento in E-flat major and the Sinfonia melodica, which all emphasize the extraordinary vitality of this composer well into the ninth decade of his productive life.
