Kjell Flem

As a pupil of Einar Englund and Einojuhani Rautavaara, Kjell Flem, born in Ålesund in 1943, has long been an international insider tip in the contemporary Scandinavian music scene. His musical language is traditionally not radical, atmospherically not contrived and creates an atmosphere deeply rooted in the natural landscape of his homeland. His oeuvre is not extensive, he prefers to allow himself a long creative phase because, in his words, the truly magical moments of inspiration are rare. Markus L. Frank conducts the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin. The soloists are Oliver Triendl on piano and Benedict Kloeckner on cello. Kloeckner has performed in Europe, the US and Korea with many important orchestras and is very successful as a soloist and as a chamber musician.
