Sensual - that is undoubtedly the word that best describes the music on this album, dedicated to the early works of Josquin des Prez. Already when he was in his early thirties, the composer developed a unique sense of sound and language. He knew how to make rhythms resonate, sometimes enveloping, sometimes liberating. His melodies are full of life - sometimes soft, sometimes undulating - and his duets seem to consist of glances exchanged between the voices. Josquin composes with great finesse and plays with the contrasts between intimacy and radiance. Like in the art of his time, his music retains a sensual beauty, full of emotion and humanity, even when he deals with religious themes.
