Late Works

Cappella Amsterdam, their celebrated conductor Daniel Reuss and the Noord Nederlands Orkest present a recording of the late works of Igor Stravinsky that illustrate the composer's remarkable transformation. Stravinsky, who devoted himself to twelve-tone technique in his later years, gave his contrapuntal voice a new form and created works with rigorous structure, spiritual depth and emotional intensity. These late compositions, from "In Memoriam Dylan Thomas" to "Requiem Canticles", reveal a composer who created music that is as moving as it is masterful. With an exceptional line-up of soloists - Berit Norbakken, Marianne Beate Kielland, Guy Cutting, Thomas Walker, Tobias Berndt and Stephan MacLeod - and harmonium players Dirk Luijmes and Martin Logar, this recording brings together compelling performers of vocal and choral music.
