Highly entertaining
Orazio Vecchi was originally conductor of Modena cathedral and only from 1598 officially maestro di corte and music teacher of the princes at the court of duke Cesare d'Este. Nowadays he is mainly known for his secular madrigal comedies, of which L'Amfiparnaso (1597) is the most famous. With Le veglie di Siena (1604) La Compagnia del Madrigale presents us his artistic testament, which contains a particularly entertaining imitation of the idiom of Italians and foreigners. Madrigal art, but with the highest entertainment value!
