Mare nostrum

Enriched The Spanish guitarist and composer Rafael Catalá is a specialist in his country's guitar music, which is characterized by influences from a broad range of Eastern and Western styles. On his cd mare nostrum with the Ensemble Música Ibérica, the guitar is accompanied by Eastern frame drums, the Swedish nyckelharpa and a Baroque altviola. And so Baroque lute music is merged with elements of flamenco, jácaras, fandangos and other Spanish dances, also charmingly enriched with Eastern rhythms and elements of improvisation.
