Milestones

Milestones is a genre-transcending project by violist Hugo Ticciati and the O/Modernt Chamber Orchestra, in which music by Josquin des Prez, Igor Stravinsky and Miles Davis come together. The album, which emerged around shared anniversary years, reflects O/Modernt's approach of bringing music from different periods and traditions into direct dialogue with each other. Instrumental arrangements and joint performances draw attention to the similarities between Renaissance polyphony, early modernism and jazz, particularly in the approach to rhythm, texture and improvisation. The project, recorded in Germany and the United Kingdom in 2021, documents an ensemble-oriented approach that emphasizes attentive listening, flexible roles for soloists and shared music-making across stylistic boundaries.
