Bernhard Lang's Monadologie XXXVI is a radical 'metacomposition'. It deconstructs Chopin's Études op. 10 through detailed analysis, loops and virtual remixes – whereby the score is destroyed and reassembled into new sonic textures. The cycle consists of 12 Etüden. The last three are dedicated to Daan Vandewalle, the internationally acclaimed pianist renowned for his mastery of 20th and 21st-century repertoire, and who now performs them on this album.
