This anthology of religious compositions, all of which can be incorporated into the liturgies of Christmas celebrations, presents some of the most important musicians who were active in Venice in the 16th and 17th centuries. The collection ranges from the earliest, Andrea Gabrieli, who died in 1585, to the most modern, Francesco Cavalli, who died almost a century later, in 1676. Amid this broad chronological range we encounter great figures such as Giovanni Gabrieli and Claudio Monteverdi, or musicians related to them, such as the Saxon Heinrich Schütz, Giovanni Bassano and Alessandro Grandi.
After three successful albums with Arcana, "Natale veneziano" heralds the new collection Il Pomo d'Oro. The leading role in this recording is played by the choir Pomo d'Oro, which since 2021 has accompanied the orchestra's activities under the direction of specialist Giuseppe Maletto.
