Leoš Janáček (1854-1928) : Po zarostlém chodníčku (On an Overgrown Path) - First Book, V mlhách (In the Mist), Sonata « 1 October 1905 » in E flat minor « From the Street » Originally intended for harmonium, the piano collection entitled "On an Overgrown Path" consists of a core of five small pieces, written between 1901-1902, coinciding with the composition of the opera Jenůfa. During this period Janáček was confronted with the unbearable grief of losing his beloved daughter Olga, which led him to seek solace by immersing himself in memories of his youth. After a few years, the collection was expanded with fifteen pieces. In these carefully written compositions, emotions fade to make way for the muted sounds of a pure and innocent nature, seen through the eyes of a child. The misfortune of losing all his children and the continued rejections of the opera Jenůfa by the Prague Opera left Janáček in a state of great emotional instability.
