From Paris to Hollywood Whether it's the finest arthouse delicacies or lavish popcorn cinema: the film music of Alexandre Desplat is at its best, not only behind moving images, but also in the concert hall – and on the pure audio platform. With Paris – Hollywood, Warner Classics releases an album whose title already sketches the life of perhaps the most versatile film composer of our time. Under the direction of Desplat himself, the Orchestre de Paris presents milestones in a career that has led from the French capital to the heart of the American film industry and is inextricably linked to the greatest stars of contemporary cinema. This includes award-winning pieces such as the music for Stephen Frears' biographical film portrait "The Queen" (2007), which was nominated for an Oscar, as well as the music for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (2008) and Wes Anderson's "Fantastic Mr. Fox" (2009). Another major hit created in collaboration with the eccentric director – and which cannot be missing from the album – is the imaginative music for "The Grand Budapest Hotel" (2015), for which Desplat won an Oscar. With its popular verve, it forms an atmospheric contrast to the monumental sounds Desplat delivered to blockbusters such as "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" (2011) and the monstrous spectacle "Godzilla" (2014) – to name just a few other highlights of the album. After his collaborative project Airlines from 2020 – for the first time with the Orchestre de Paris and flautist Emmanuel Pahud – Alexandre Desplat once again demonstrates his exceptional mastery on Paris – Hollywood.
