This album is a journey through passion, vision and sensuality, bringing together three dazzling works for voice and orchestra. At its heart stands Ernest Chausson's Poème de l'amour et de la mer op. 19 - a moving, late-romantic meditation on love and loss in which human emotions dissolve into the vastness of the sea. Benjamin Britten's Les Illuminations op. 18 follows with an electrifying intensity, transforming the vivid, surrealist poetry of Arthur Rimbaud into music that is both incisive and radiant. The programme concludes with Camille Saint-Saëns' rarely performed and intimate Extase, a tender song of rapture and devotion. Tenor Edgaras Montvidas lends lyrical and emotional depth to this exceptional poetic repertoire. He is accompanied by the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra (for Chausson's work) and conductor Modestas Pitrenas.
