British pianist Mishka Rushdie Momen makes her label debut at HYPERION in a rather unconventional way: she presents us with a selection of music from the late Tudor period with works by Byrd, Gibbons, Bull and Sweelinck. Rushdie Momen's choice of repertoire is not only refreshingly unconventional, it is also a reminder of how convincingly this music sounds on the modern piano - provided it is played with such natural authority and understanding as in this case. A beautiful debut that can also be seen as an impetus to broaden the horizon.
